Aromatic & Elegant
Made from Sagrantino, the native grape variety of this small and special region, this young grappa is clear, limpid, and crystalline in appearance. On the nose, it offers a fragrant bouquet of herbs, flowers, and ripe fruit such as blackberry and currant. The palate is full, round, and delicately aromatic, with the fruit notes continuing through to a pleasantly persistent finish. Traditionally enjoyed as an after-dinner treat, this grappa pairs beautifully with fruit platters, desserts, sorbet, and chocolates served in chunks. Its youthful character also complements almond-based sweets like biscotti, almond tarts, cakes, and brownies with pronounced almond flavor.
About the Winery
Bocale
The Valentini family has been connected to the City of Montefalco by history and personal experiences for over one hundred years.
The background is the special Umbria Region, full of history and culture, where the act of every farmer is full of folk wisdom, simplicity, passion and sacrifice.
The family’s philosophy is influenced by the history of men working in fields, surrounded by the rare beauty of it’s hilly landscape.
In 2002, the Valentini family continued their tradition by establishing Bocale, a winery in Montefalco. "Bocale" refers to a two-liter mug of wine or olive oil, and it's also the family nickname. Their Montefalco Rosso and Montefalco Sagrantino wines blend innovation with tradition, respecting environmental cycles and handcrafted processes to create natural, personality-filled wines.
